After exposure to bird flu on the eggs on the United States, the total price of eggs became an important point for consumers, especially on the Internet.
The average price of eggs in the EU increased by 6.7% in March 2025 compared to March 2024, according to the latest Eurostat data.
The Czech Republic registered the highest annual level of inflation for eggs with 46.0%, followed by Slovakia with 29.8%and Hungary, from 26.1%.
On the other hand, the Netherlands registered the highest descent with eggs, with a fall of 3.6%, and then Luxembourg with 3.2%and Greece, where prices decreased by 2.0%.
Until now, by 2025, egg prices continued to rise, with an increase of 3.4 % in January, and in February increased by 4.1 % compared to the same months of 2024.
2024 registered negative indicators of negative changes in 10 out of 12 months of the year compared to 2023.
However, the increase by 2025 was less than observed in 2022 and 2023, where every month from April 2022 to September 2023 two digitas were recorded.
The largest amounted to 31.2 % in February 2023 compared to the same month of 2022.
In 2024, France was the main producer of eggs, from 942,000 tons, followed by Germany, from 900,000 tons, Spain, from 902,000 tons and Italy with 763,000 tons.
