The federal government has expanded to another 180 days of emergency zoosanitarian state in all of Brazil due to the H5N1 influenza virus in wild birds. Via the map (Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock), Regulation No. 784 was published on Monday (7) in Dou (official newspaper) to maintain quick disease.
The extension allows the map to continue controls, releasing funds and operating with states, municipalities and other entities. H5N1 with a bird flu is easily spreading the disease and can disturb the production of birds and health other animals.
Brazil confirmed the first case of the disease in May 2023 in wild birds. Since then, 166 epidemics have been reported: 163 in wild birds and three in birds created for their own consumption. There are no cases in commercial works that keep the country as a free area of the disease according to the world organization Health Animal.
With the extension of the emergency of the event with birds, such as fairs, exhibitions and tournaments, remain suspended. The release of these events depends on the authorization of state veterinary services based on risk assessments.
The funds are still valid until October 2025.
