Employee will help disabled people in supermarkets

Supermarkets should also act as a social area in social life. For this reason, the Commission for defense of the rights for persons with disabilities, for the House of Representatives, also approved a proposal that commits supermarkets, retail and similar facilities to make officials available for, if necessary, helping people with disabilities and reduced mobility to make their purchases.

The approved text is the remuneration of the reporter, Vice Conceição Sampio (PP-AM), to the project by Vice Luiz Lauro Filho (PSB-SP). The reporter has a compensation for the action to integrate the Accessibility Act. “It is more interesting that such legislation is part of a larger project rather than being an isolated law of others, which facilitates their consultation and diffusion,” he said.

Conceição -Sampaio also withdrew from the detailed description of the support activities that the employee should perform. The approved proposal states that the facilities have a tactile floor area at the entrance to customers to a flat area in the housing.

The inspection of the measure will be up to the consumer protection bodies. In the original project, this assignment was planned for the municipal authorities. “Consumer protection agencies are best equipped to monitor this law,” Sampio said. The proposal will be finalized with the committees for economic development and constitution and justice. Such a practice is already practiced in supermarkets from other countries, such as Canada, for example.
