Low wages: where is it less profitable to work in Europe?

Millions of European workers receive only one part of the average salary of their country.

The latest Eurostat data show that almost 15% of the active population of the EU consists of low wages.

Workers with low wages are employees who earn two -thirds or less than the average salary in their countries.

The report shows a wonderful difference between genres: 18.2% of women belong to this category, compared with 12.5% ​​of men.

Young people are especially affected: every fourth employees with low wages under the age of 30.

The highest percentage of low wages are registered in Bulgaria (26.8%), Romania (23.9%), Latvia (23.3%) and Greece (21.7%), and on the other hand, countries such as Portugal, Sweden, Finland, Italy and Word, have lower indicators that suggest more homogeneous distribution.

Food workers and hotels and recovery, more likely, will be affected

Hospital and restoration workers are at the top of the list, in which more than one third (35.1%) of all low wages of the EU operate, which are followed by administrative and auxiliary services, with 32%.

The type of contract and education also play an important role in determining income.

People with certain terms of contracts are more than half the likelihood of belonging to this category than people with permanent contracts (27.2% versus 12.6%).

Literary qualifications are also of great importance, since almost 28% of workers with a low level of education ultimately in a low level of wages, compared with 4.8% of those who called that more and secondary education (17.5%).
