“You can’t judge and punish the same ruler,” wrote the governor in social networks
Governor of Mato Grosso to Sul, Eduardo Riedel (PSDB), defended on Saturday (5) a partial amnesty for the accused undemocratic acts of January 8, 2023, along with the adoption of criteria taking into account the severeness of each case. The statement was published on Instagram, in the company of photos together with Senator Teresza Cristina (PP) and the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).
According to Riedel, it is necessary to view the penalty, taking into account the difference in the proceedings between the involved. “I recently talked to the Governor of Tarcisio, Senator Tereza Cristina, among others leaders in our country, in order to defend the search of penalty dosimetry in the case of the accused on January 8,” – he wrote.
The governor said that in many cases amnestia would be humanitarian. “I consider it necessary to approve the amnesty, which in many cases is also humanitarian,” he said. He pointed out that the same penalties cannot be used in different situations: “You can’t judge and punish with the same ruler who is completely different.”
Riedel also accused that the National Congress voted about. “I believe that the National Congress is required to vote in this matter, taking into account this as an important step for the pacification of the country.”
In the publication, he criticized what he called the “excesses of the present” and defended the end of ideological confrontations. For the governor, you should focus on the solutions of real problems of the country.
It is worth remembering that so far, according to the data published by MPF (Federal Prosecutor), acts have been reported 1413 people, of which 1156 incidents, 248 contractors, 8 public agents and a financier.
Of the total of 30 people, they have already been convicted among them by five residents of Mato Grosso to Sul, most of the crimes using a rapid abolition of democratic rule of law, a coup d’état, qualified damage, deterioration of heritage and armed criminal association.
At that time, the headquarters of three powers in Brasilia (DF) was attacked and banned by protesters against the election process, which caused the third term of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT).
