The presidents of the United States and Ukraine Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelinski held a “very fruitful” conversation in Rome and agreed on “additional negotiations” at the end of the funeral of Pope Francis.
Conversation details are still unknown.
White House Communications Manager Stephen Chun promised that it would be reported later.
“The presidents of Bazilica Saint Peter met, the meeting lasted for about 15 minutes. The leaders agreed to continue the negotiations. The teams are working to organize the continuation of the meeting,” Zelinski spokesman told reporters.
“A good day for negotiations”
Upon his arrival in Rome, Donald Trump wrote on the social Truth Social network that last Friday was “a good day for negotiations and meetings with Russia and Ukraine.”
“They are very close to the conclusion of the agreement, and now both parties must hold the meeting at the highest level” to end this. “Most of the major points were already agreed. Stop bloodshed,” the US President wrote.
On Friday, in Moscow, the fourth meeting of the American supervisor Steve Witkev with the leader of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
As the assistant to Russian President Yuri Ushakov later said, the conversation lasted three hours and was “constructive and very useful in nature.”
“The conversation has made it possible to bring Russia and the United States positions in addition, but also in a number of other international issues,” said Putin’s assistant.
