Hungary claims to leave the International Criminal Court at a time when the prime minister of Israeli Benjamin Netanyahu landed in Budapest for an official visit. According to Free Europe, the Hungarian government is preparing for this immediately.
The chief of staff of Hungarian Prime Minister Gergel Gulyas said that it was unacceptable that the Mus, who began to become an honorary initiative, has recently become a political body, as the warrant for seizure against Benjamin Netanyahu shows.
The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the alleged war crimes, namely, against Russian President Vladimir Putin, and then against Prime Minister Israel Benjamin Netanyahu. US President Donald Trump – the United States have never been members of the Convention that created the Mus – also imposed sanctions against the Mus.
Hungary has never participated in the TPI Statute in its internal legislation, so no one can be detained in Hungary, based on it, the Gulyas claimed.
Hungary does not intend to correct the embarrassing situation arising as a result of the proclamation of the law, but removing itself from the organization. According to the Chancellor, the reason for this is that the organization deviated from its original goal and “became a political court.”
The minister referred to the fact that the leading military powers in the world – for example, the United States, China and Turkic – were never members of the TPI and the United States to have sanctions for the organization. Gulyas also referred to Poland, whose prime minister also stated that although the country was a member of the Mus, the prime minister of Israel would not be arrested on the basis of an order to capture the organization.
