In 124 regions of Europe, all residents live less than 15 minutes from the nearest hospital. The highest concentration is in GermanyWith 77%.
The country has 96 administrative units where 100% of people live less than 15 minutes by car from the hospital, especially in the western and southern regions of the country.
Follow Belgium And Netherlandswith six provinces each, then France and from GreeceWith four. In Greece, all these administrative divisions are in the Athens region.

Greece and Romania have the lowest hospital density
However, some places were not so lucky. In 97 EU administrative divisions, more than 50% of residents should make longer trips only for access to healthcare.
Most of these areas are 21 – located in Romania. 15 are in Greece, nine in Croatia and Spain, eight in Poland and six in Ireland, Portugal and Slovenia.
And in seven especially in need of provinces, only 10% of patients live less than fifteen minutes from the hospital. Four of them are located in Greece and three in Romania.
Access to healthcare in Greece is especially disturbing, and only 46 doctors per 100,000 inhabitants, which makes it the lowest level in Europe.
According to Eurostat, the highest rates are registered in the Netherlands (183), in Austria (146), in Cyprus (138) and in France (137).
