The mayor of the opposition of Istanbul, who was detained, appeared before the judge in one of the various cases that transferred him, which led to the fact that hundreds of supporters met abroad, where there was a hearing.

The Imamoglu was arrested in the Western prison of Istanbul, since its official detention on March 23 on charges of corruption.

The current trial, which claims that Imamoglu threatened the state prosecutor, is one of the six that precedes his detention last month, which caused protests at the national level.

Turning to the judge, Imamoglu said that he was in court because he won three choices against the person “who thinks that he owns Istanbul”, a link to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who began his political career as the mayor of the city in the 1990s.

Erdogan actively participated in supporting his candidates for the party against Imamoglu.

The hearing was attended by the wife and son of Imamoglu, as well as deputies of the Republican Popular Party (CHP), Halk TV and other media.

The process was postponed until June 16.

The mayor, who is also the main opponent of the 22 -year government of Erdogan in the upcoming presidential election, threatens more than seven years of prison and a political ban on allegedly “aiming, the threat and insulting of people who work in the fight against terrorism.”

The accusation arises in the comments on January 20, in which the Prosecutor General Istambul was criticized by Akin Gürlek from a criminal trial against other numbers of the opposition.

Imamoglu was arrested on March 19 in accordance with two investigations, one of which was focused on corruption in the municipality of Istanbul, and the other, subject to terrorist ties in the electoral pact of his party with truncated politicians.

The demonstrations that demanded their liberation and end of the democratic failure of Turkey under the command of Erdogan led to the arrest of about 2,000 people for participating in protests prohibited by the municipal authorities.

The mayor was officially appointed presidential candidate during the detention.

The arrest of Imamoglu was widely seen as politically motivated, although the Turkic government insists that the judiciary is independent of political influence.

Also on Friday, two other Istanbul vessels also held hearings on cases against Imamoglu.

One of them is the case of fraud with the proposals that dates back 10 years ago, when he was the mayor of the Baicduyu district in Istanbul.

Others argue that the illegal collection of donations arises in the video, which was distributed during the period preceding last year’s municipal elections, and showed that the TSP officers tell money.
