Pedro Lucas Fernandes confirmed as a new Minister of Communications

Plantoto Palace announced on Thursday (10) the appointment of the federal deputy Pedro Lucas Fernandes (Brazil-Ma Union) as the new Minister of Communications.

The parliamentarian, who is the leader of União Brasil in the House of Representatives, was elected to replace Juscelino Filho, that resigned after being condemned to the court for a diversion system from parliamentary amendments.

The confirmation of the nomination occurred after a meeting between Pedro Lucas and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) at Dawn Palace.

The Minister of Institutional Connections, Gleisi Hoffmann, confirmed the election and emphasized that the vice position asked for time until after Easter to officially take office to solve personal and seats.

“The Union presented the name of Pedro Lucas, and the president accepted,” Gleisi said.

Pedro Lucas, who is in his second mandate as a federal deputy, does not have a close relationship with Lula, but maintains a good connection to his party president Antonio Rueda and the Senate President Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AC).

He was re -elected in 2022 as the second most voted vice in Maranhão, with 159,786 votes.
