Russia offers to convey nuclear power stresses between the US and Iran, Kremlin says

The Kremlin said on Monday that Russia is ready to do everything it can to solve tension between the US and Iran around the Tehran nuclear program, while Washington requires Iran to make a nuclear agreement or will be bombarded.

Moscow has repeatedly offered to convey between both sides, after military action warnings against Iran made by US President Donald Trump shook his nerves throughout the region.

“We are in constant consultation with our Iranian partners, including the theme of the nuclear agreement,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“This process will continue, even in the near future. And of course, Russia is ready to do everything, to do everything to contribute to the solution of this problem with political and diplomatic means.”

During his first term of office, Trump drew the United States from an agreement in 2015 between Iran and the world powers that introduced rigorous boundaries for Tehran’s contested nuclear power activities in exchange for sanctions. Iran says it needs nuclear power for peaceful purposes and denies that it is trying to acquire nuclear weapons.
